"Important I-95 Construction Advisory (South Carolina)"

Beginning September 12, 2011, the South Carolina Department of Transportation will begin bridge re-decking repairs over Lake Marion on I-95 North Bound in Orangeburg County.

During construction, the Interstate width and Bridge width on I-95 North Bound will be reduced from two (2) lanes to only one (1) lane. The lane reduction will begin at Mile Marker 98 with concrete barrier walls in place.

LEGAL vehicles only (8'6" or less in width), will be able to travel through this area.

NO OVERSIZE/OVERWEIGHT LOADS WILL BE ALLOWED TO TRAVEL THROUGH THIS AREA BEGINNING SEPTEMBER 12, 2011 UNTIL THE ANTICIPATED RE-OPENING DATE OF NOVEMBER 16, 2011.

Detour routes have been established to bypass the construction area. The detoured routes are: I-95 to I-26 to US-78 (Exit 205B) to US-52 to SC-375 to US-521 & I-95.

The detour route is for over width loads only. Over height and/or over weight loads must contact the permit office for a designated route of travel based on dimensions. You may contact the South Carolina Oversize/Overweigh Permit office to have one of our agents review a suggested route of travel and/or to amend current permits to bypass this area. You may contact the permit office by calling 803-737-6769 or toll free at 877-349-7190 or via e-mail at OSOWhelp@dot.state.sc.us.
