"Surprise Safety Inspections"

FMCSA state and local law enforcement officials surprised nearly 3,000 passenger carriers with unannounced safety inspections last month. The unannounced inspections resulted in 262 vehicles and 156 drivers being issued "Out of Service" violations.  Passenger carriers need to be prepared for these unexpected inspections, especially now with the FMCSA's increased emphasis on roadway and passenger safety.
