"VA Weight Waiver Notice for Hurricane Irene"

Due to recent severe weather from Hurricane Irene, the Virginia Department of Transportation and the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles have jointly issued a temporary waiver of commercial vehicle registration and license agreements, along with normal weight and width restrictions, for the purpose of ensuring that essential emergency relief supplies reach Virginia disaster areas in a timely manner. The waiver is effective beginning 12 pm, August 26, 2011 until 12 pm September 30, 2011. It pertains only to statewide shippers and carriers of essential emergency relief supplies or providing restoration of utilities to severe weather impacted areas within the Commonwealth of Virginia.
